I started Chatelain Mods as a creative outlet. By day I work in design and web development, and modding gives me space to experiment with new tools, solve problems in a completely different context, and just have fun making things for a game I love.
Why this website?
Chatelain Mods is a community on Patreon, and this site is an extension of it. Centralizing every mod in one place gives you easy access to updated versions without scrolling through old posts, and helps me stay organized and ship updates faster.
The work
I make mods for The Sims 4. Right now I'm focused on custom map replacements because they're simpler to learn and don't require constant maintenance, which makes them perfect while I'm still getting the hang of modding. Maps will always be free.
But I'm also working on gameplay mods in the background. Those are more complex and take longer to get right, so I'm taking my time with them. I'll start releasing gameplay mods once I'm confident I have something solid to deliver to the community.
This is a hobby, and it's supposed to stay fun. Some months I'll release a bunch of stuff, other months life gets busy and I slow down. That's just how it goes.
